The museum is a dynamic container of modern and contemporary art which must represent the spirit of the Guggenheim Foundation and is a focal point for Helsinki, the people and the tourists.

The building invites you to come, walk around and enjoy the surroundings, inspiring the public to visit the museum.

This is a multipurpose building, which offers a fundamental exhibition space and also hosts amenities, like the museum store, the restaurant, the terminal port, the green roof, the sculpture garden and the ice skating rink.

The design aims to provide a vitalising environment where art is manifested through the building and the Guggenheim collections.
